Labor Day...

...as I've said before, Labor Day is a weekend of celebrating my sweet Daddy.  This year was no exception.  My niece and nephew came into town for the weekend to help celebrate so we started off with some adventure....CANOEING!

Now, I love to be outdoors and was totally excited to be out on the river.  Well, until it took almost twice as long to get down than river than it should have.  We haven't had a lot of rain before the weekend, so the river was low and slow.  All in all we had a great time, but man oh man, the bridge where we they pick us up, didn't come quick enough!

The girls were hilarious!  Emily got bored and fell asleep half way down and Elaina was loving the rocks in the water.  She had a huge smile the entire time!

After a day of canoeing, it was time to relax with the family and watch some football, it was opening weekend of college football.  And there's not much better than watching football in your pj's and eating pizza!!!

The next day, we had linner (that's lunch/dinner for those who weren't aware) with my family and had Daddy's famous "Chocolate Lush" for dessert.  Elaina was disappointed there was no birthday cake!

For his birthday, we gave him gift certificates to this awesome little hole in the wall restaurant/bar named "Twin Kegs".  He used to get me their hamburgers to go and bring it to me when I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and he's been talking about wanting one of their burgers.  So, now we get to go together!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!  We love you more than you could ever know!!!

Update on Casa de Barrios....

...since it's been so long, I thought I would post a short update on all things happening in Casa de Barrios the past two years...watch out, lots of pictures and most of them are from my long lost iphone.

Here goes nothing:

Emily started the 2nd Grade.  And started an sassy attitude at the same time.

Steve played and coached a lot of baseball, which meant lots of time spent at the ballpark.

Lots of dress up and play time.  And goodness gracious, so glad the "wah-wah", or pacifier for those not in the Barrios clan, is gone!!!!

Lots of weddings...

And a few new babies...

Ran our first 1/2 marathon.

Second trip to Puerto Rico.

We are officially potty trained!  YAY!!! No more diapers!

That almost wraps up our last 2 years.  You'll see some of these things in more detail in future posts and a few other posts from the past couple years I didn't include (like some partying!!).

Hope you didn't get too bored with all the pictures!

4th of July...

Better late than never, right!
Last year we met up with some of our friends and watched the fireworks in Nashville. Since we all had so much fun, even though it poured down rain the entire time, we decided to do it again.
This year we planned it out a little better and had 3 tents, just in case of rain! We got there super early so we could beat the crowd.
So I brought lots of things to keep the girls occupied, because knew they would get restless before the show began!
Emily & Elaina basically taking a bath in the bubbles we brought!

I also brought Elaina's tricycle and Emily's scooter to ride.

Little did I know the big boys would enjoy them as much as the girls!

We also brought corn hole, which kept everyone busy! They had a championship game and everything!
Emily and Elaina got in on the action. You can just see the pure joy on Elaina's face because she knew she was doing something she shouldn't!

Emily did what she does best - she bummed cotton candy from Josh! Sucker! Can't believe he fell for her charm!
Holly and I hangin out under one of the 3 tents.

All in all, it was a great day with great food, great friends, and great fireworks!

Definitely going to be a tradition at Casa de Barrios!
